Edit: Some news for your afternoon consumption: LHP Nick Czyz has been promoted to High Desert from Clinton, which will bring in RHP Erasmo Ramirez (!!!) from extended.  Hat tip to The Lumberblog.

Sweep! Wins! Frequently of the double-digit run-scoring variety!

Tacoma 13, Salt Lake City 11 (ANA - 3) (ten innings)
LHP Chris Seddon (6.10) pitched five innings and gave up seven runs (five earned) on twelve hits, a wild pitch, a hit batter, and four Ks. Fortunately, that didn't matter. RHP Andy Baldwin (5.40) pitched the next two innings and let four runs score on four hits (HR). The offense overcame that too, though now I wonder who will be pitching in Petit's spot in the rotation. Maybe since they skipped Hensley in West Tenn's rotation, he's on his way to meet up with Tacoma? I don't know. Bouncing back from bad outings earlier in the week, RHP Luis Munoz (18.00) had a hit and a K in an inning of work and RHP Levale Speigner (5.14, W) struck out one over the final two innings.
So, about that tenth inning. With two outs, LF Michael Saunders (R, 1-5, BB, .107) singled, and then SS Josh Wilson (3 2B, R, 3 RBI, .300) doubled, for the third time in the game (improbable, but bear with me) to drive Saunders in. PR-RF Ezequiel Carrera (RBI, .219) singled to drive Wilson in, and there you have it. Outside of that particular frame, 1B Mike Carp (HR, .257), DH Tommy Everidge (2B, 2 R, RBI, .286), 3B Jack Hannahan (HR, 2 R, 2 RBI, .500), C Eliezer Alfonzo (2 R, 2 RBI, .333), and 2B Chris Woodward (HR, 2 R, 2 RBI, .292) all had two hits, Hannahan drawing a walk, and CF Gregory Halman (2B, R, RBI, .118) had a double, and a walk, and a strikeout, and was moved down to sixth in the order.

Mississippi 3 (ATL - 3), West Tenn 5
Yay, a win. LHP Mauricio Robles (2.89, PO, W) pitched five innings and let three runs score on six hits, two wild pitches, a balk, a walk, and seven Ks. It took him 90 pitches to get that far, but hey, strikeouts! LHP Robert Rohrbaugh (0.00), quite different from our man Robles, as left-handers go, pitched the next three innings, allowing two hits and striking out four. RHP Anthony Varvaro (0.00, S) struck out the side again in the ninth. That's nine Ks in 4.1 innings now. New Varvaro is AWESOME.
The D-Jaxx had a couple of guys in the lineup with three hits in the game, as SS Carlos Triunfel (3B, R, RBI, .235) and C Luis Oliveros (2B, RBI, .571) both managed the feat, with Oliveros adding a walk. CF Kuo-hui Lo (2B, R, .208) had two hits and a walk, and 2B Jeff Dominguez (2B, R, .286) and 1B Johan Limonta (3B, R, 2 RBI, .258) both had extra-base hits. DH Mike Wilson (.240) walked twice.

Lake Elsinore 4 (SD + 1), High Desert 10
RHP Andrew Carraway (4.50, E, W) pitched five innings and let four runs (three earned) score on eight hits (HR) and six Ks. Many balls in the air, a 1/7 ratio actually, but hey, no walks? RHP Marwin Vega (2.25) did walk one over the next two innings, but that was the extent of it, save for another spate of flyball outs. RHP Steven Richard (6.23) had two hits, a walk, and a K in the final two frames.
3B Nate Tenbrink (HR, 3 R, 2 RBI, .429) had four hits in the game, including his first home run of the season. I did not expect him to be starting out so well in the league, but I will take it. CF Maximo Mendez (HR, .267) also had a home run, which is not something you're going to see that often, at least stateside, and had a single and a walk as well. 1B Scott Savastano (2B, .333), LF Denny Almonte (2B, R, RBI, .235), and SS Edilio Colina (2 R, .333) had two hits apiece as well, with Almonte adding a walk. C Trevor Coleman (R, .077) had two of those. DH Rich Poythress (2B, .250) had a double and a walk.

Quad Cities 10 (STL + 5), Clinton 11 (eleven innings)
I don't rightly know what the deal is with LHP Jonathan Hesketh (17.18), because I thought he might hit the wall eventually, I just never expected the wall to be in the Midwest League. Hesketh pitched two and two-thirds innings in this one and gave up nine runs on nine hits, a wild pitch, four walks, and four Ks. In his defense, I guess, Quad Cities has been one of the best teams in the league to date. LHP Nick Czyz (0.00) took over for the next three and a third innings, walking two and striking out five. At this rate, Czyz is going to be in the rotation sooner or later. RHP Chris Kirkland (1.29) let an unearned run score on two hits, a hit batter, a walk, and five Ks in two innings of work, and that was the last time the Riverbandits would score. RHP Brandon Josselyn (0.00) took it through the eleventh, allowing one hit and striking out three.
For the second time recently, LF Kalian Sams (3 HR, .324) hit a walk-off home run, but as you can tell, he had a couple of others before that. He struck out in two of his other at-bats, giving him 14 Ks in 37 at-bats, and in spite of this, he's slugging .892. I'll admit it: Sams is probably my favorite player in the organization right now on entertainment value. He wasn't the only one doing some damage either, as SS Nick Franklin (2 RBI, .359) and C Brandon Bantz (2 2B, 2 R, 3 RBI, E, .571) both had three hits, Bantz adding a walk, and 1B Vinnie Catricala (2B, R, .333), DH Dennis Raben (HR, 2 R, .243), and 3B Mario Martinez (2B, 2 R, 2 RBI, E, .207) all had two hits, with Raben adding a walk. That was the third home run for Mr. Raben, which is half as many as Sams has.
