Salt Lake 4 (ANA - 2), Tacoma 1
It’s a shame because LHP Cliff Lee (0.00) was some kind of awesome, giving up just three hits and striking out four in six innings of work. Then RHP Mike Koplove (8.53) came in and made a mess of things, allowing three hits and two walks, which turned into four runs overall, RHP Steve Palazzolo (13.50) scoring one of them as he allowed a couple of hits and hit one in two-thirds of an inning. RHP Steven Shell (2.87) got two quick outs after that, and RHP Chad Cordero (6.48) pitched the ninth, with a hit and a K in the inning. AHHH! BEES!!!!
So, offense. RF Ryan Langerhans (2B, R, A, .241) had a double and CF Ezequiel Carrera (SB, .237) had a single and a walk. Beyond that, I’ve got nothing beyond the notes of Hannahan going 0-for-4 and Ramon Vasquez going 1-for-4 in his return to the Rainiers.

West Tenn 4, Mobile 11 (ARI - 1)
Hrm. RHP Luis Munoz (5.79, E, L) gave up five runs (four earned) on six hits (2 HR!), two walks, and three Ks in four+ innings, then RHP Steve Bray (7.94) came in, after the bases had been cleared of course, and managed to give up five runs of his own on five hits (2 HR!), a walk, and a K in two and two-thirds innings. Well then. RHP Aaron Jensen (0.90) gave up his first run of the season on a couple of hits, a wild pitch, an a K in the final inning and a third.
Let us speak now of something that is less depressing. DH Mike Wilson (HR, 2 RBI, .298), who also had a walk, hit his seventh home run today. CF Kuo-hui Lo (2B, R, .232) and 2B Jeff Dominguez (HR, .222) both recorded two hits, with Dominguez hitting his first home run of the season and walking. LF Carlos Peguero (2B, RBI, .367) hit a double and didn’t strike out at all. Things are looking up!

High Desert 4, Lake Elsinore 2 (SD - 1) (seven innings)
RHP Kenn Kasparek (3.09, W) did all right, dingers aside, as there were two of them within six hits he allowed in six innings. Otherwise, a walk, three Ks. I’d like to see more of those strikeouts, obviously, but no real complaints. RHP Stephen Penney (1.23, S) notched his second save in the seventh.
SS Juan Diaz (2B, R, RBI, .203) had a couple of hits out of the last spot in the order, and CF Maximo Mendez (R, 2 RBI, .300) had a hit and a walk out of the top spot. And he’s turning out to be a decent leadoff man, with a .417 on-base percentage! Hooray!

High Desert 10, Lake Elsinore 2 (- 2) (seven innings)
Wheeee! LHP Nick Czyz (2.57, W) got game two of the DH and allowed three hits and two walks while striking out one. He’ll need to improve his command to stay, of course. LHP Travis Mortimore (8.31) let two runs score on three hits in the final two inning, but those were drops in the bucket really.
Offense! No one logged more than two hits, or even drew a walk, but both hits for DH Nate Tenbrink (3B, HR, 2 R, 4 RBI, .394) went for extra bases. He’s probably going to repeat as player of the week. 3B Edilio Colina (2B, 2 R, .300), 1B Rich Poythress (2B, 2 R, RBI, .297), C Travis Scott (2B, R, RBI, E, .273), LF Jake Shaffer (HR, 2 RBI, .271), and SS Juan Diaz (2B, RBI, .226) also had two hits apiece.

Kane County 1 (OAK - 3), Clinton 3
Suspended game! LHP Anthony Vasquez (1.25) allowed two hits and two walks while striking out three. That was before the rains came. After the rains left, RHP Erasmo Ramirez (0.84) pitched four and two-thirds innings and allowed a run to score on five hits, a hit batter, and five Ks. He’s pretty good. After that, LHP Brian Moran (0.00, W) came in to win it, recording four quick outs, two of which were Ks.
SS Nick Franklin (HR, 2 R, .343) had two hits in the game, including a home run that tied it 1-1 in the sixth. Other contributors included 1B Dennis Raben (2B, RBI, .294), who had a double before the break and a go-ahead RBI and a walk after, and RF James Jones (2B, RBI, PO, .188) who drove in the final run for the Lumberkings.

Kane County 6 (- 2), Clinton 3 (seven innings)
Oops. RHP Tyler Blandford (4.11, L) allowed a couple of unearned runs to score on four hits, four walks, and five Ks in four innings. He’s quite unlike the other pitchers, it seems. RHP John Housey (5.40) followed him and ran afoul of some trouble, allowing two solo home runs, along with two other hits, a wild pitch, and two Ks in an inning and two-thirds. RHP Daniel Cooper (7.88) had a hit, a walk, an a K in two-thirds of an inning, and both those baserunners would score as LHP Jose Jimenez (1.17) allowed ta hit to score them in his two-thirds of an inning.
CF Daniel Carroll (R, CS, .174) reached three times via two singles and a walk, which is good, as I’d like to see him make it to High Desert this year somehow. 1B Vinnie Catricala (2B, R, E, .286) and LF Kalian Sams (3B, R, RBI, .235) added extra-base hits, and DH Dennis Raben (.290) walked twice.
