Pineda’s been shut down for the season. It’s about time.

Portland 5 (SD – 25), Tacoma 3
There have been many home runs in this series. LHP Ryan Rowland-Smith (6.00, L) gave up another three of them as part of nine hits and five runs scored while he struck out two in seven and two-thirds innings. RHP Andy Baldwin (5.06) walked two and struck out two in the last inning and a third.
3B Matt Mangini (HR, .307) and RF David Winfree (HR, 2 RBI, .318) had the home runs for the Rainiers. It would have helped if the other guys were on when it happened. LF Mike Carp (2B, R, .248) had a double and a walk and C Rob Johnson (.283) walked twice.

West Tenn 3, Montgomery 6 (TB - 2)
RHP Luis Munoz (3.97, E, L) gave up two runs on four hits (HR), a walk, and five Ks in six innings. That evened up his record to 6-6. LHP Robert Rohraugh (3.82) piled on, adding four more runs (two earned) after three hits (HR) and a hit batter in a third of an inning. RHP Steven Richard (4.21) scored two of those and had a hit, a wild pitch, and a K in an inning and two-thirds.
The offense was not so much bad as it was inefficient. 2B Matt Lawson (2B, R, .338) was on three times with three hits, and likewise, 1B Nate Tenbrink (R, .282) and RF Johan Limonta (RBI, .299) both reached three times with a hit and two walks apiece. DH Alex Liddi (2B, R, 2 RBI, .269) added a double, C Guillermo Quiroz (.297) had a single and a walk, and LF Joe Dunigan (.215) walked twice.

Lake Elsinore 12 (SD + 1), High Desert 8
Reversal? RHP Kenn Kasparek (4.08, L) let eight of the runs score on nine hits (3 HR!), a trio of walks, and two Ks in four+ innings. RHP Steven Penney (3.67) scored three more after five hits, two walks, and a K in the following two innings. RHP Jake Wild (5.38) had the last run score against him on a hit, a couple walks, and a K in the following two innings and LHP Brian Moran (1.42) struck out one in the ninth.
2B Kyle Seager (2 RBI, CS, .346), SS Edilio Colina (R, SB, .297), LF Jake Shaffer (HR, 2 R, 2 RBI, .336), 1B Ji-man Choi (R, .308), and CF Denny Almonte (2B, HR, .260) all had two hits, with Almonte adding a couple of walks and Seager and Colina contributing one walk apiece. RF Johermyn Chavez (.317) had a single and a walk. He was ejected too. Wacky.

Clinton 1, Peoria 7 (CHC 0)
That hurts the playoff hopes. LHP Nick Czyz (4.57, L) gave up all seven, but only two were earned, after eleven hits, a couple walks, and a K in six innings. RHP Fray Martinez (7.94) gave up a hit in the final two frames.
1B Mickey Wiswall (2B, R, .299) and LF Vinnie Catricala (2B, RBI, E, .307) both doubled, CF Matt Cerione (.285) had two walks.

Eugene 1 (SD 0), Everett 4
LHP Anthony Fernandez (2.79, PO, W) pitched six frames and allowed three hits and a walk while striking out six. Another solid outing for him. LHP Bennett Whitmore (4.26) gave up a run on four hits, a wild pitch, and a K in the next inning+ and RHP Jorden Merry (3.86, S) had two walks and three Ks in the final two innings.
3B Kevin Mailloux (2B, HR, 2 RBI, CS, E, .292) was a triple shy of the cycle, which is usually the missing part. 2B Terry Serrano (R, 2 SB, CS, .302), RF Kevin Rivers (.323), 1B Evan Sharpley (2B, RBI, .241), and C Jimmy Jacquot (2B, RBI, E, .212) all had a hit and a walk.

Pulaski 6, Bristol 9 (CHW - 8)
These one-game series with Bristol are interesting. RHP George Mieses (3.45) gave up four runs on eight hits, a hit batter, and two walks against a couple Ks through five innings. LHP Michael Vitale (5.31, PO, BS, L) gave up another five (four earned) after that with four hits and a hit batter. RHP Nolan Diaz (6.39) allowed a hit, hit one, and struck out a pair in the last inning and two-thirds.
LF Derek Poppert (2 R, E, .246) and CF Jose Rivero (HR, 2 RBI, .292) both had two hits, Rivero with his sixth home run, Poppert with a walk. 2B Jake Schlander (R, .271) had a single and a walk.

AZL Royals 3, Peoria Mariners 2
RHP Brandon Maurer (1.64) struck out three in two innings of work. RHP Taijuan Walker (1.29) had the same, except he also gave up a run on one hit. RHP Luke Taylor (5.24, E, L) pitched three frames after that and two unearned runs scored on him with three hits, a wild pitch, three walks, and three Ks. LHP Scott Ronnenbergh (2.13) walked one, hit one, and struck out two in the last two.
The old bit of wisdom is that if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. Runs scored, there were five hits, one walk, nothing for extra bases, no bases stolen.

DSL Giants 5, Yamasa Mariners 2
Season over. LHP Henry Perez (0.00) put in a decent effort though, going eight frames and allowing two unearned runs to plate after six hits, a wild pitch, a hit batter, a walk, and ten Ks. Trouble mostly came once he left, as RHP Yunior de Jesus (54.00, L) allowed two hits in a third of an inning, both of which were scored by RHP Domingo Brazoban (36.00) in the final two-thirds, along with an unearned of his own after a hit and a hit batter.
1B Rudy van Heydoorn (2 2B, R, E, .450) had three hits in the game, and SS Luis Matias (.417) and DH Axel Wel (RBI, .316) both had two. There were five errors and that sucked.
