The Mariners decided that with the AZL season over, a lot of stuff had to happen, so OF Maximo Mendez and LHP Brian Moran both moved up to West Tenn from High Desert, the Mavs got LHP Jose Jimenez and UT Luis Nunez, the Lumberkings added RHP Brandon Maurer and IF Carlos Ramirez, the Aquasox for OF Jarrett Burgess, LHP Kody Kurowski, and RHP Jandy Sena, and the Pulaski M’s got RHP Seon Gi Kim. Excitement abound! BA also says we picked up OF Reggie Lawson from Grossmont JC in California which is interesting and all except I just looked it up and he’s not listed there nor does he appear in the stats I looked up for the JC. Whoops.

The MiLB.com people completely reformatted the box scores to where they, like the line score, auto-update with the game. Except all the text is bigger now and the things like who doubled and who stole bases seems to be copied from the visiting team to the home team and that’s going to need to be fixed quite badly.

A third bit of news is that the Mariners have re-signed with Pulaski for another two years with an option for two more which means I will be recapping nine teams a year forever. Double-A, advanced-A, and intermediate-A are all still up in the air. No whammies no whammies no whammies…

Even though he is no longer in the league, RHP Blake Beavan is the Texas League Pitcher of the Year. All right!

A final bit of news (I am just filled to the brim with news today) is that two M’s were named Hitters of the Week, LF Vinnie Catricala and OF Kevin Rivers. AND WE SWEPT TOO. Lordy…

Colorado Springs 3 (COL - 14), Tacoma 6
LHP Mauricio Robles (4.29, W) pitched five innings and let three runs (two earned) score after five hits, four walks, and four Ks. That command, wow. RHP Steven Shell (3.57) had a hit and a K in the next three and RHP Josh Lueke (2.57, S) had two hits and a K in the ninth for a save.
1B Justin Smoak (2B, R, .272), CF Gregory Halman (2B, HR, 2 R, 2 RBI, .249), and C Rob Johnson (2B, R, 2 RBI, .302) all had two hits and Johnson added a walk. Halman has thirty-one dingers now? SS Tug Hulett (2B, R, .415) and DH Brad Nelson (2B, R, .260) both doubled with Nelson adding a walk and RF Jeffery Dominguez (.221) had a single and a walk. It is funny that he is playing right field.

Lake Elsinore 7 (SD - 1), High Desert 9
Hooray we won. LHP Nate Reed (11.57) pitched three frames and let six runs score on ten hits, a wild pitch, two walks, and two Ks. I don’t get it. RHP Blake Nation (4.86) then went the next three and had a run score on three hits (HR), a walk, and three Ks. RHP Jake Wild (5.35) allowed two hits over two-thirds of an inning, RHP Cheyne Hann (6.89, W) had a hit and a K in an inning of work, and RHP Stephen Penney (3.59, S) struck out one of the last four batters.
All this offense, and the only home run was from CF Denny Almonte (HR, 2 RBI, .257), his twenty-second. 1B Shaver Hansen (2B, 3 R, .212) had three hits in the game and that doesn’t happen every day. LF Daniel Carroll (2B, 2 RBI, .308), RF Johermyn Chavez (2B, 3B, R, RBI, .318), C Trevor Coleman (R, .215) and 2B Luis Nunez (R, 2 RBI, .231) all had two hits and Chavez drew a walk too. DH Jake Shaffer (RBI, .337) had a single and a walk.

Clinton 7, Peoria 2 (CHC - 1)
RHP Taylor Stanton (4.27, W) pitched five innings on his way to his fifth win, letting two runs score on eight hits, a walk, and five Ks. LHP Jason Markovitz (4.05) had a hit and a K in the next two innings and RHP Forrest Snow (0.98, S) walked one and struck out two in the final two innings.
SS Nick Franklin (R, SB, .282) and 3B Mario Martinez (2B, R, .240) both had a couple of hits in the game, DH Mickey Wiswall (2B, R, RBI, .296), 1B Tim Morris (2B, R, RBI, .246), and CF Matt Cerione (2B, RBI, .287) all had doubles, with Morris and Cerione adding walks, and RF James Jones (R, RBI, .271) and C Henry Contreras (R, .340) both had a hit and a walk.

Eugene 0 (SD - 2), Everett 8
That’s a single season win record. RHP Chris Sorce (3.68, W) had four hits, a hit batter, and four Ks in seven innings. That’s pretty good, I guess. RHP Eric Thomas (4.75) then gave up a hit in the final two.
CF-LF Robbie Anston (2B, R, 2 RBI, .299), 2B-3B Terry Serrano (2B, 2 R, RBI, .308), RF Kevin Rivers (2 RBI, .333), and DH Hawkins Gebbers (2B, R, .248) all had two hits in the game, with Anston and Serrano adding walks. 1B Evan Sharpley (R, .241) and C Steve Baron (2B, R, 2 RBI, .251) both had a hit and a walk and LF-RF Kalian Sams (2B, R, .156) had a double and two walks and what the hell Sams walked two times?

Greeneville 6 (HOU - 5), Pulaski 8
The M’s finally updated their site to reflect that they officially clinched their playoff spot. Formalities! They may be destroyed by the Cardinals. RHP Lance Abbott (2.25) pitched five innings and let two runs score on six hits, a hit batter, and five Ks. RHP Yovanny Olivero (5.01, W) got the next two and allowed one hit while striking out three. RHP Tim Griffin (4.67) then gave up a hit, uncorked a wild pitch, and struck out a pair in the eighth. RHP Yao Wen Chang (10.07) had a lot of difficulty with the ninth as he let four plate after three hits (2 HR!) and a walk against a pair of Ks.
CF Mario Yepez (2B, HR, 2 R, 2 RBI, .231) had three hits from the leadoff spot, which included his sixth home run. Home runs were a bit of a theme on the night, as 3B Ramon Morla (HR, 2-4, .328), RF Jabari Blash (HR, 2 RBI, 1-4, .255), and DH Ethan Paquette (HR, 2 R, 1-3, .241) all had them as well. Chang wasn’t the only one with trouble as those last three home runs all came in the Pulaski half of the eighth. 1B Matt Browning (2B, R, RBI, .330) added a couple of hits and C Andrew Giobbi (R, RBI, .291) had a single and a walk.
