Three Aquasox made the NWL All-Star Team those being LHP Anthony Fernandez, 3B Kevin Mailloux, and, drumroll… C Steve Baron. No Rivers. So mad am I.

Other news had us re-signing with the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx for another two years. This leaves advanced-A and intermediate-A as the only question marks.

Colorado Springs 1 (COL - 15), Tacoma 11
After a rain delay lasting an hour and a half, beatdowns were handed out. But first, RHP Yusmeiro Petit (5.50) gave up a hit and struck out a pair in two innings of work. RHP Andy Baldwin (4.86, E, W) came on next and allowed a hit and a wild pitch while striking out four in four and two-thirds innings. LHP Edward Paredes (5.68) gave up a run on two hits, a wild pitch, and a K in the next inning and a third. Divish says he heard someone else say Paredes doesn’t like to pitch in scoreless games. You heard it here by proxy. RHP Scott Patterson (2.67) struck out one in the ninth.
LF Mike Carp (2 HR, 3 R, 3 RBI, .254) had two more dingers as part of three hits. 2B Dustin Ackley (2B, 3B, 2 R, RBI, .274) also had two hits and since some of them went for extra bases it may be reasonable to assume that he’s still alive. 3B Matt Mangini (RBI, E, .313), C Eliezer Alfonzo (2B, 2 R, 2 RBI, .256), and CF Gregory Halman (2B, HR, 2 R, 3 RBI, .251) all had two hits with Alfonzo adding a walk. He sure has been doing that a lot for a guy who hates walking. DH Brad Nelson (R, .261) had a single and three walks. He’s not so bad about it.

Mississippi 2 (ATL - 5), West Tenn 7
RHP Jarrett Grube (3.27, W) gave up a run on three hits, a wild pitch, and a K in six innings. It works! Sometimes. It was the only K the Jaxx had. LHP Anthony Vasquez (2.81) then pitched two innings of relief and gave up a run on three hits. I don’t get it. Well, other than the fact that he’s pitched 165.2 innings now. RHP Aaron Jensen (4.66) allowed a hit in the ninth.
3B Alex Liddi (R, RBI, .271) and CF Carlos Peguero (3B, 2 R, 2 RBI, .254) both had two hits in the game. RF Scott Savastano (HR, .271) added his fifth home run at the double-A level and DH Johan Limonta (2B, R, .299), SS Leury Bonilla (2B, 2 RBI, .264), and LF Joe Dunigan (2B, R, .216) all had doubles.

High Desert 1, Rancho Cucamonga 8 (ANA + 6)
RHP Maikel Cleto (6.59, L) pitched five+ innings and allowed eight runs (seven earned) to score on six hits (HR), a wild pitch, a hit batter, five walks, and five Ks. I have to say I’m really stoked to see what he can do in the Arizona Fall League. RHP Ryan Moorer (7.07) pitched the next two innings and allowed two hits, threw a wild pitch, and struck out one, scoring two of Cleto’s runs along the way. LHP Jose Jimenez (0.00) rung up a pair in the eighth.
2B Luis Nunez (R, SB, .276) had two hits and 1B Shaver Hansen (.214) had a single and a walk. Yep. This series is looking hopeful.

Clinton 9, Peoria 10 (CHC - 2) (ten innings)
I suppose it could have been worse. For example, a meteorite could have blown up the field. Still sucks though. RHP Erasmo Ramirez (2.86) pitched five innings and let four runs score on nine hits (HR), a wild pitch, two walks, and a K. RHP Brandon Maurer (0.00) pitched the next three and allowed two hits while striking out three. This was the only bright spot for the pitching staff. RHP Fray Martinez (9.53) allowed a hit and a walk, which came around as two runs thanks to RHP Brandon Josselyn (4.72), who allowed two hits, hit one, and threw a wild pitch. If you see something missing from all this you’re not out of your mind or anything because no outs were recorded until RHP Stephen Pryor ((4.50, BS, L) came in, and even then, all of Joss’ runs scored and Pryor eventually had one score against him, with a line of three hits, two walks, and two Ks in an inning and two-thirds.
2B Nick Franklin (HR, .286) and CF Matt Cerione (2B, HR, 3 R, SB, .293) both had three hits in the game, and RF James Jones (HR, 3 RBI, .270) and 3B Mario Martinez (HR, 3 RBI, .240) had the team’s other home runs. Jones and Cerione have as many home runs combined as Franklin has on his own. He tied the single-season record for the Lumberkings, held by the immortal Dick Kenworthy. LF Vinnie Catricala (2B, A, .307) had two hits, DH Tim morris (R, .246) had a hit and a walk, and SS Gabriel Noriega (2B, R, .234) doubled.

The Aquasox were rained out. Did you see that weather today? Man. It’s a wonder that the Rainiers resumed play.

Greeneville 5 (HOU - 4), Pulaski 2
So we lost the final game of the season. Forget that. Division champs wooooo! RHP Richard Vargas (4.54, L) started a game again which is hopeful except that he let three runs score on five hits, a wild pitch, a hit batter, three walks, and six Ks in four+ innings. RHP Seon Gi Kim (0.00) then took over for three innings and did exactly what he did in Peoria except that hits did not fall in. Which is to say, one hit, a wild pitch, one walk, seven Ks. Lovely. LHP Michael Vitale (5.91) gave up two runs on three hits and a wild pitch in the eighth and RHP Ben Versnik (3.38) gave up a hit and struck out the side in the ninth.
RF Jabari Blash (2B, R, .266) had two hits and a walk. I don’t know how close the double was to becoming a Funk Blasht.
