Tom Wilhelmsen was the Midwest League Pitcher of the Week. In the NY-Penn League, it was Miguel Celestino. WHY DO THEY ALWAYS GET BETTER WHEN THEY LEAVE.

Tacoma 1, Omaha 11 (KC + 9)
Bleh. RHP Blake Beavan (9.00, L) let nine of the runs score on ten hits (HR), a wild pitch, and three walks in five innings. RHP Yusmeiro Petit (5.72) scored the other two after three hits in the sixth and seventh. RHP Levale Speigner (5.26) had two hits allowed and the only two Ks for the pitching staff in the eighth.
Some good came of the game, and that was 2B Dustin Ackley (3B, R, .299) getting three hits. LF Mike Carp (A, .247) had a hit, a walk, and an assist, and RF David Winfree (.319) had two singles.

Montgomery 3 (TB - 2), West Tenn 9
LHP Mauricio Robles (4.11) pitched six innings and let a couple runs score on four hits (HR), two hit batters, four walks, and five Ks. I don’t know that I’d call that effective, but it was sufficient. RHP Luis Munoz (4.07, BS, W) gave up a solo home run and one other hit while striking out one in the next two frames. RHP Dan Cortes (5.33) allowed a hit in the ninth but by that time it definitely wasn’t a save situation.
LF Carlos Peguero (2 R, .250) had a single and two walks, which is something we’ve not seen him do for some time. 2B Matt Lawson (R, .365), DH Scott Savastano (HR, .293), CF Leury Bonilla (HR, 2 R, 2 RBI, CS, .256), RF Joe Dunigan (2B, 4 RBI, .196), and SS Carlos Triunfel (R, .265) all had two hits, with Bonila adding a walk. 3B Alex Liddi (2B, R, .264) and C Guillermo Quiroz (2B, R, 2 RBI, .295) both doubled, with Liddi adding a walk, and 1B Nate Tenbrink (E, .274) had a single and a walk. That’s the whole lineup.

Wisconsin 9 (MIL - 5), Clinton 6
The streak is now over. LHP Nick Czyz (5.40, L) gave up four runs on four hits (2 HR!), a couple of wild pitches, a walk, and three Ks in four innings. LHP Jose Jimenez (2.87) let three more score (two earned) on three hits and a wild pitch against a K in the next inning. RHP Taylor Lewis (6.27) pitched three innings after that with two runs (one earned) crossing after four hits, a couple wild pitches, and two walks with one K. RHP Forrest Snow (1.29) was the only one to miss out on the festivities, with just a hit and a K in an inning of work.
RF James Jones (3B, R, RBI, PO, E, .261), LF Vinnie Catricala (2B, HR, 2 R, .281), and C Blake Ochoa (HR, 2 RBI, E, .328) all had two hits. Ochoa is up to six home runs already. 1B Mickey Wiswall (HR, .182) also had his first MWL home run. No one walked, but no one really struck out either, as there were only five Ks.

Boise 1 (CHC - 7), Everett 2
The streak came to an end for the Lumberkings, but now the Aquasox are up to seven wins of their own. RHP Edlando Seco (2.44, PO) pitched seven innings and gave up a run on four hits and six Ks. Like many things about the Aquasox this year, he’s been surprising, and in a good way. Perhaps he’s finally getting his command down. RHP Jonathan Arias (2.49, W) had a hit, a walk, and a K in two innings of work.
The walk-off win wasn’t as sexy as others you might find, but that’s okay. With one out, Mailloux reached on a fielding error that got him around to second. Next up, RF Kevin Rivers (HR, 2-4, .339) had a single and another throwing error allowed Mailloux to score, because the second baseman threw the ball away to first. That did it. Rivers’ home run was a his ninth.

Pulaski 2, Bluefield 7 (BAL - 15)
Huh. Well, LHP Michael Vitale (3.00, 2 E, L) gave up five runs (one earned) on three hits, a walk, and a K in two innings of work. That spot in the rotation is kind of a mess. RHP Preston Vancil (3.97) pitched the next five and let two runs (one earned) score on three hits and two Ks. RHP Yao Wen Chang (13.14) pitched the eighth. We hadn’t seen him in almost two weeks. I honestly keep forgetting he’s around.
3B Jorge Agudelo (HR, 2 R, .318) had his first home run of the year, which is something of note. 1B Matt Browning (2 E, .340) and RF Jabari Blash (.233) both had two hits, with Blash adding a walk. The M’s defense made eight errors. Jiminy Christmas.

Peoria Mariners 2, AZL Angels 5
RHP Steve Landazuri (3.00) gave up two runs through three innings on three hits, a walk, and three Ks. RHP Charles Kaalekahi (9.00) pitched the next two, with similar results, plus a wild pitch and a K. RHP Michael Aviles (8.22) had a run score against him on a hit and a hit batter, but struck out three in two innings. LHP Matt Petiton (5.14) just struck out the side in the eighth.
CF Guillermo Pimentel (3B, E, .240) and SS Bryan Brito (CS, .152) both had two hits and 2B Danny Lopez (2B, RBI, CS, .243) and RF Robert Rodriguez (2B, R, .246) both collected doubles.

Aguirre Mariners 1, VSL Pirates 4
Pirates :(. RHP Vicente Campos (7.36) had four runs (three earned) score against him in three and two-thirds innings after four hits, a wild pitch, a hit batter, three walks, and three Ks. RHP Reynaldo Sabala (0.00) pitched the last four and a third innings and allowed five hits and struck out three.
2B Felipe Burin (2B, .250) doubled. He is our hero. If the M’s don’t win tomorrow they’re out. Such is the VSL playoff format.

DSL Cardinals 6, Yamasa Mariners 4
LHP Wander Marte (3.14) gave up four runs (one earned) after three hits, four walks, and three Ks. Now, you may make jokes about his command. RHP Jochi Ogando (3.16) followed with three innings where he allowed one hit and struck out six, which is pretty cool, but then RHP Junior Nunez (1.16, L) let two runs score on four hits, a walk, and a K in the following two+ innings. LHP Martin Abad (1.15) scored both with a hit and an intentional walk in the ninth.
1B Rudy van Heydoorn (HR, .313) had a home run and a walk in the game. I still have no idea why he’s down there. Moving on to other things, RF Efrain Nunez (R, .199) and CF Janelfry Zorilla (CS, E, .261) both reached three times, Nunez with two hits and a walk, Zorilla with two walks and a hit. 2B Luis Matias (R, 2 SB, .223) and LF Randy Perez (SB, .257) both had a hit and a walk and C Miguel Sanchez (2B, R, .139) doubled. Perez has twenty-six stolen bases this year. That’s more than twice as many as the next guy.
