Luke French made the PCL All-Star Team as the Rainiers member. Also we nearly swept.

Portland 1 (SD - 18), Tacoma 2
LHP Erik Bedard (0.00) got his rehab start and gave up an unearned run after three hits, three walks, and three Ks in four and a third innings. LHP Chris Seddon (3.46, W) pitched the rest of the game and allowed a hit and a walk while striking out three.
CF Gregory Halman (HR, .237) had a home run and a walk. Yay. DH Brad Nelson (R, .287) also had a hit and a walk but his hit was a single. Not so thrilling.

Tennessee 0 (CHC 0), West Tenn 6
RHP Dan Cortes (4.97, W) had a return to earlier form, if by earlier form we mean two starts ago. Sure, he had two walks, but through seven innings, with only one hit and six Ks, I’ll take it. RHP Steve Plazzolo (3.86) gave up a hit in the eighth and RHP Anthony Varvaro (2.57) struck out one in the ninth.
2B Dustin Ackley (2 R, RBI, .257), 3B Nate Tenbrink (R, 3 RBI, .289), CF-LF Leury Bonilla (2 R, .246), and SS Carlos Triunfel (R, .287) all had two hits in the game, with Ackley drawing a walk and 1B Alex Liddi (.280) had a single and a walk.

High Desert 9, Rancho Cucamonga 3 (ANA - 4)
Hey, this seems familiar. Whatever, LHP Bobby LaFromboise (4.20, W) gave up a run on four hits and two walks against two Ks in five innings. RHP Blake Nation (5.04) also gave up a run, an unearned one, after one hit over the next two innings. RHP Stephen Penney (2.91) struck out two in the eighth and RHP Wes Littleton (3.60) let one last run score after a hit, a walk, and a K in the ninth inning.
Seven members of the lineup had hits today. SS Kyle Seager (R, 2 RBI, PO, .321) had three hits in the game and has taken the shortstop spot with Diaz gone and Colina on the DL. I’d prefer Franklin, but he seems to have landed in some horrible mystery spot. 3B Eddy Martinez-Esteve (2B, HR, 2 R, 2 RBI, E, .373) had two hits. It’s interesting because he’d never played third before he got to the Mavs. Also he hit his second home run. 1B Rich Poythress (HR, 2 RBI, .283) hit a home run too, his fifteenth.

Clinton 8, Cedar Rapids 4 (ANA - 1)
LHP Nick Czyz (1.47) pitched five innings and let a couple of runs score on five hits, a wild pitch, a walk, and two Ks. I’d like it if he struck out more guys, but eh. RHP Taylor Lewis (5.23, BS) let two unearned runs score after two hits and two wild pitches in the next two-thirds of an inning, which was unfortunate. RHP John Housey (3.43, W) was able to keep the Kernels at bay for the next three and a third innings, allowing just two hits and a walk while striking out one.
2B Luis Nunez (2B, 2 R, 3 RBI, .394), DH Tim Morris (R, SB, .324), and 3B Mario Martinez (2 2B, R, RBI, .248) all had three hits in the game, with the first two adding a walk. I missed this yesterday, but Martinez’ game then was the first since June 11th. LF Kalian Sams (R, .193) had a hit and, surprisingly, two walks. RF James Jones (2 R, RBI, .224) had a hit and a walk and 1B Vinnie Catricala (2B, RBI, .284) had a double. Franklin still wasn’t playing. I still don’t know what’s up. They did write about him a week ago though.

Salem-Keizer 4 (SF - 2), Everett 6
Back to normalcy, by which I mean beating up on the Volcanoes. RHP Chris Sorce (3.50) gave up two runs on three hits, a hit batter, three walks, and three Ks in six innings. I guess his command was off. RHP Jonathan Arias (4.91) let two more runs score after five hits, a wild pitch, and two Ks through the eighth, and RHP Willie Kesler (4.50, S) struck out one in the ninth.
RF Kevin Rivers (2 HR, 5 RBI, SB, .388) had two home runs and a walk in the game, making a repeat as Player of the Week a little more likely. LF Robbie Anston (2B, 2 R, 2 SB, E, .297) and 3B Kevin Mailloux (2 R, .288) both had a hit and a walk, and 1B Evan Sharpley (2B, .250) doubled.

Pulaski 13, Kingston 3 (NYM - 6)
Hey that was nice. RHP Richard Vargas (3.00, E) pitched four innings and gave up two runs on four hits, a couple of hit batters, three walks, and two Ks. RHP Timothy Boyce (1.35, W) handed out a walk, hit one, and struck out one in the next two innings, and then RHP Lance Abbott (3.00, S) got a three-inning save with a run scoring on four hits (HR) and two Ks. Yes, that’s Paul’s son.
Some interesting things happened for the offense in this game, like, for example, CF Jarrett Burgess (HR, 2 R, 4 RBI, .083) getting a grand slam in the fourth inning for his first, and thus far only hit of the year. He also walked twice. A few other guys reached four times, like 2B Jorge Agudelo (2B, 3B, 2 R, RBI, SB, .375) getting four hits and C Larry Gonzalez (2B, 2 R, RBI, .263) getting three hits and a walk. Like Burgess, 3B Ramon Morla (2B, RBI, SB, .410) was on three times with two hits and a walk, and LF Mario Yepez (R, .175) and 1B Ethan Paquette (2B, 3 R, RBI, .219) both had a hit and a walk. RF James Wood (2B, 2 R, CS, .429) had a double, his sixth, which leads the league.

Peoria Mariners 15, AZL Brewers 1
Silly numbers! RHP Seon Gi Kim (5.65) continued his trend of having those as he pitched five innings and let a run score after eight hits and eight Ks. No walks! RHP Preston Vancil (0.00) gave up two hits and struck out one in the next two innings before RHP Danny Cruz Ayala (0.00) pitched the final two, allowing a hit and striking out four.
Covering the rehabbers first, RF Ryan Royster (2 2B, 2 R, 2 RBI, .667) had three hits and a walk and DH Joe Dunigan (2B, R, RBI, SB, .375) had a double and a walk. Beyond that, 3B Matt Browning (3B, R, 4 RBI, .190) reached thrice with a pair of hits and a walk, and most of the rest, CF Alfredo Morales (R, RBI, SB, A, .353), 1B Jose Flores (2 R, .308), LF Frankie Christian (2 R, .222), and SS Bryan Brito (2 R, RBI, E, .176), reached twice. It was a hit and a walk in every case but Flores’, as he walked twice. 2B Carlos Ramirez (2B, 3 R, RBI, .250) had a double.

Aguirre Mariners 8, VSL Tigers 7
LHP Cruz Pereira (3.32, PO, W), the pitcher so nice they surnamed him twice, gave up two unearned runs in six innings of work after five hits, a wild pitch, and a walk against three Ks. Following him, RHP Isliexel Gonzalez (4.62, S) got his first save of the year after giving up five runs on six hits (HR), a couple of wild pitches, and a walk against three Ks because hey he pitched three innings.
DH Reginald Lampe (2B, R, RBI, .308) got four hits in the game and he’s hitting .300 now? RF Alexy Palma (HR, 2 R, 2 RBI, .302) hit his second home run as one of three hits for him. 2B Felipe Burin (2B, R, RBI, 2 E, .338) also was on three times with two hits and a walk. He’s probably the best prospect on the roster that no one is really talking about. I don’t know how much that is saying. CF Jesus Ugueto (RBI, .341), 1B Miguel Brito (.253), and SS Roberto Velasquez (2 R, RBI, E, .315) all were on twice, Ugueto with a pair of hits and the other two with a hit and a walk. I suppose that means that it’s time to mention that LF Kenny Hart (HR, .296) also went deep for the second time. 3B Yidid Batista (2B, R, RBI, SB, .223) added a double.

Yamasa Mariners 5, DSL Cardinals 6 (eight innings)
RHP Ambioris Hidalgo (4.50), who sometimes seems like he’s the only pitcher on the M’s staff, gave up two runs (one earned) on four hits, three walks, and five Ks in five innings of work. RHP Augusto Marte (4.97, BS, L) blew it though, as he let four runs score on three hits, a hit batter, and two walks against a K in two-thirds of an inning. RHP Oliver Garcia (1.08) walked two and threw a wild pitch without recording an out and that forced in one of Marte’s runs. After that, RHP Enrique Rosario (4.23) had three hits allowed, a wild pitch thrown, and six Ks in two and a third innings, which would have been nice if it had come earlier in the game.
1B Rudy van Heydoorn (2B, R, RBI, .356) had three hits in the game and RF Efrain Nunez (2B, R, 2 RBI, .162) and 2B George Soto (R, RBI, .225) both had two hits. CF Randy Perez (SB, .229) added two walks.
