I had every intention of posting my Lee trade reactions here, but then Dave e-mailed me and was all like “I’m on this plane!” and so it ended up over at USSMariner. These things happen, I guess.

Fresno 8 (SF + 17), Tacoma 7
Win streak, over. RHP Michael Pineda (4.43) was due to have trouble eventually, so why not against one of the league’s best teams? He gave up six runs on five hits, three walks, and two Ks in three and a third innings. That’s not the whole picture, so check out Ryan Divish’s twitter because he saw it and it was pretty good up until the fourth. RHP Yusmeiro Petit (5.93, L) then pitched four and a third inning and let two runs score on three hits (HR) while striking out eight. Based on this important sampling, Petit is the superior pitcher. Believe it. Believe that I am not being serious when I say that. RHP Scott Patterson (1.59) allowed two hits, walked one, and struck out three in the last inning and a third.
RF David Winfree (HR, 2 R, 2 RBI, .274) had a solid, 4-for-5 night where he hit his second home run. LF Mike Wilson (2B, R, .296), batting ninth of all places, had three hits, C Adam Moore (R, SB, E, .378) had two, and SS Chris Woodward (R, .230) and 2B Jack Hannahan (2B, 2 RBI, .230) both had a hit and a walk.

Carolina 3 (CIN + 2), West Tenn 1
Poor RHP Jarrett Grube (2.92, L) was outmatched by the Mudcats’ starter, though his own outing, three runs (one earned) on six hits, two walks, and four Ks was not necessarily bad on its own. LHP Edward Paredes (3.63) struck out three of the next five batters he faced, hitting one of them, and then LHP Robert Rohrbaugh (3.42) struck out two of three in the ninth.
CF Brandon Haveman (2B, R, SB, .295) and RF Nate Tenbrink (2B, .286) both had a couple of hits and the remainder of the offense was DH Dustin Ackley (2B, .255) and C Guillermo Quiroz (2B, RBI, PB, .343) both doubling.

Visalia 8 (ARI 0), High Desert 9 (eleven innings)
The average fan looks at this game and sees “oh, hey, walk-off victory”. The pitcher meanwhile sees “homestand over, hurry, we must flee the city!” RHP Jake Wild (5.65) probably feels that because he gave up six runs (five earned) on seven hits (HR), two wild pitches, a hit batter, and two walks against four Ks in five innings of work. RHP Cheyne Hann (5.80) got the next frame and let two runs (one earned) score on two hits, another plunked batter, and a K. Things calmed down a bit from there. LHP Brian Moran (5.79) and RHP Wes Littleton (3.00) split the next four innings, with Moran allowing three hits and striking out three, and Littleton allowing two hits and throwing a wild pitch. LHP Bobby LaFromboise (4.19, W), still penned, allowed one hit in the eleventh.
Walk-off! It opened with a SS Kyle Seager (2B, 2 R, SB, 3-5, BB, .328) double, then Colina hit a bunt which he reached on with an error by the pitcher. For the heck of it, he ran on to second on fielding indifference and then 1B Eddy Martinez-Esteve (2 2B, 2 R, RBI, E, 2-4, BB, .393) hit a sac fly to end it. That sort puts aside the great night by RF Johermyn Chavez (2B, 2 HR, 5 RBI, .292), who had gone 4-for-5. 2B Edilio Colina (R, .301), DH Jake Shaffer (R, .320), and LF Maximo Mendez (RBI, CS, .216) all had two hits and C Trevor Coleman (2B, R, PB, .210) doubled.

Quad Cities 1 (STL + 4), Clinton 0
Some sadness here too, as RHP Nolan Gallagher (3.72, L) only gave up a run on six hits, a hit batter, a walk, and three Ks in five and two-thirds innings and that was enough to end up with the loss in this case. LHP Jose Jimenez (2.50) gave up two more hits and a walk while striking out three in the next two and a third innings. RHP Jorden Merry (5.19) struck out a pair in the ninth.
1B Tim Morris (.328) had a single and two walks, RF James Jones (2B, .235) collected two hits, C Blake Ochoa (SB, PB, .400) singled and drew a free pass, and 2B Gabriel Noriega (.215) doubled. That comprised the Lumberkings’ offense in its entirety.

Spokane5 (TEX 0), Everett 6
RHP Yoervis Medina (3.14) had a mixed outing, the negatives being four runs on seven hits, one of which left the yard, and the positives being two of the runs being earned, a walk, and nine Ks. Six innings is pretty good too. RHP Jonathan Arias (3.68, W) got the win in spite of allowing a run to score on three hits, a wild pitch, a walk, and a K in the next two innings, then LHP Jason Markovitz (1.29, S) got his second pro save with a K in the ninth.
The hero of the game was PH-DH Evan Sharpley (HR, 3 RBI, .269), who stepped in for Jimmy Jacks in the eighth and cranked out a three-run home run that put the Sox ahead to stay. Otherwise, I might fall back on RF Kevin Rivers (3B, 3 R, .324) for a triple and two walks or CF Ryan Royster (2 2B, 2 RBI, .400) for a couple of hits and a walk. Strange note of the game was that Wiswall debuted at third, going 0-for-3 with a RBI. Did not see him moving to that side of the infield.

Pulaski 12, Greeneville 14 (HOU 0)
This is unpleasantly familiar. RHP George Mieses (4.18, E) gave up eight runs (six earned) on ten hits, three of which left the park, and two plunked batters while striking out four. Normally, you don’t get to do that without getting the loss, but that went to RHP Timothy Boyce (5.40, L), who scored one of Mieses’ runs and gave up five runs (two earned) on two hits, two hit batters, and three walks against a K. LHP Bennett Whitmore (6.75, BS) scored one of those and gave up an unearned run of his own on three hits and two Ks in the eighth.
Offense was a nice thing to take your mind off weak pitching in this one. SS Jake Schlander (2 R, 2 RBI, .321) reached four times with three hits and a walk and RF Jose Rivero (3 R, .667) got on three times with two hits and a walk. Twos included 2B Derek Popper (2 R, 2 SB, .234), 3B Ramon Morla (2B, HR, 2 RBI, 3 E, .329), 1B Ethan Paquette (R, RBI, .273), and C Larry Gonzalez (2B, 3 RBI, E, .212). In idle moments, I wonder how much of Morla’s offensive value is negated by him being a butcher on the field. C Henry Contreras (HR, 2 RBI, .333), LF Jorge Agudelo (2B, 2 R, RBI, SB, .333), and CF Mario Yepez (2B, .178) all had extra-base hits. That’s the whole starting lineup!

AZL Rangers 5, Peoria Mariners 0
RHP Dylan Unsworth (3.32, L) gave up two unearned runs on five hits and three Ks in five innings of work. Bad luck for Sharky there, because the offense was not doing much of anything either. RHP Jarett Attard (5.63) gave up three more runs on five hits and a K in the sixth. Anyone wanting to look up his stats in the future, remember that it’s two Ts and one R in both his first and last name. Clever, that. LHP Scott Ronnenbergh (6.75) pitched the next two, walking one and striking out one, and then big LHP Kody Kurowski (0.00) gave up a hit in the ninth.
The offense got a hit and a walk from 1B Joe Dunigan (.364) and a couple walks from CF Alfredo Morales (.302). There were two other hits and two other walks.

Aguirre Mariners 8, VSL Phillies 2
RHP Maikel Ynfantes (3.14, W) did a seven-inning stint this time, letting two runs score on six hits (HR) and three Ks. Not exactly common for a VSL pitcher to go that long. RHP Reynaldo Sabala (2.60) gave up two hits in the next two innings.
C Franklin Diaz (R, .234) had a hit and three walks in the game, marking probably the first time he’s led off an offensive recap this season. DH Pedro Okuda (2B, 2 R, 2 RBI, .333) added a double and two walks. As for the rest of the lineup, you had two walks from 1B Ivan Ramirez (.355), doubles by SS Roberto Velasquez (2B, 2 RBI, .305) and 2B Felipe Burin (2B, R, .324) both doubled, and 3B Ramon Coronel (R, SB, .220) had a single and a walk.

DSL Athletics 5, Yamasa Mariners 7
RHP Joan Vizcaino (2.70) gave up four runs (two earned) on five hits, a hit batter, a walk, and two Ks in three and a third innings. LHP Leoncio Munoz (2.79) scored two of those and an unearned of his own on two hits and two walks against a K in the next inning and then RHP Enrique Rosario (3.18, BS, W), who scored Munoz’ run, had two hits and four Ks in three innings of relief.
1B Westlonder Marcelino (R, RBI, .345) had two hits and a walk in the game, though both hits were singles. RF Efrain Nunez (R, E, .184), C Rudy van Heydoorn (2B, R, RBI, CS, 2 E, PB, .303), and CF Randy Perez (3B, R, 2 RBI, CS, .222) all had a hit and a walk and some of those hits went for multiple bases. Perez I think would get the most credit there because his triple drove in Drullard and Marcelino, but then he got caught stealing home so…
