Tacoma 11, Colorado Springs 6 (COL - 3)
RHP Jarrett Grube (6.23) pitched five and a third innings in his starting debut, giving up five runs on seven hits (HR) and a walk against four Ks. Still, I feel I have to cheer for a former Blue Crab, if only because if he faced off against John Halama, a teammate from earlier this season, it would afford me the opportunity to shout “CRAB BATTLE!” and then have everyone look at me strangely. RHP Steve Palazzolo (3.18, BS, W) scored two of those and gave up a run of his own on three hits, a wild pitch, a walk, and three Ks in an inning and two-thirds. RHP Scott Patterson (6.00) struck out a pair and gave up a hit in the final two innings.
CF Gregory Halman (2 HR, 4 RBI, .248) hadn’t played since the second, but made sure no one forgot about him as he hit two out of the park out of three hits in the game. Funny thing about that is that both the rehabbers, SS Jack Wilson (.375) and C Adam Moore (HR, .563) also had three hits. 3B Matt Mangini (2 R, .297), RF Mike Wilson (HR, 2 R, .267), and LF Ezequiel Carrera (R, 2 RBI, .260) all had two plus a walk, 2B-SS Chris Woodward (3B, 2 RBI, E, .236) had a triple, and PR-C Guillermo Quiroz (2B, 2 R, .323) doubled after replacing Moore.
West Tenn 1, Tennessee 2 (CHC + 14)
This went quite a bit better than expected, but still not ideally. RHP Dan Cortes (5.92) pitched six innings and gave up a run on three hits, a walk, and five Ks. May he build off this outing. RHP Aaron Jensen (4.55) let a run score in the next inning and a third on four hits and two Ks, and RHP Mumba Rivera (6.75) struck out the final two batters.
LF Carlos Peguero (.304) had a hit and a pair of walks, which is unusual for him in the past two months. 1B Johan Limonta (2B, R, .303) and DH Scott Savastano (.309) both had a hit anf a walk and RF Kuo-hui Lo (.245) had a couple of singles.
San Jose 10 (SF + 17), High Desert 3
Eh, pass for facing a juggernaut, but disappointment because it might have meant further retribution. RHP Jake Wild (4.61, L) gave up seven runs through three innings after six hits (HR), two wild pitches, three walks, and three Ks. LHP Nick Czyz (5.34) let three more score in the next four frames following five hits, a wild pitch, two walks, and five Ks. RHP Ryan Moorer (7.36) allowed a hit and a walk and hit one in the final two frames.
CF Denny Almonte (HR, 2 RBI, SB, .303) hit his ninth home run and stole a base, which are both good things for him to be doing. SS Juan Diaz (.297) added three hits, 1B Rich Poythress (RBI, .294) had two, 3B Edilio Colina (2B, R, .303) doubled and scored, and DH Eddy Martinez-Esteve (.231) and RF Johermyn Chavez (R, .292) both had a single and a walk. The Giants have a hitter named Peguero in their lineup and it continues to throw me off.
VSL Pirates 7, Aguirre Mariners 3
A full game! We lost!... RHP Isliexel Gonzalez (2.76) let four runs score on four hits, a hit batter, and a walk in the first inning. That sets a bad tone for the rest of the game. RHP Angel Raga (4.79) let three more score on five hits, a wild pitch, three walks, and two strikeouts in the next two innings. RHP Kevin Quintanilla (2.25) allowed just three hits and struck out three over the next four innings, which is pretty good, and then RHP Maikel Ynfantes (4.66) gave up a pair of hits and rung up one in the last two.
C Ivan Ramirez (2 R, .296) had two singles and LF Kenny Hart (2B, R, .261) had a double and a walk. That’s all.
DSL Brewers 3, Yamasa Mariners 5
Huzzah! RHP Joan Vizcaino (3.60, W) gave up three runs on five hits, four walks, and three Ks in six innings. RHP Noel de la Cruz (2.45, S) then allowed a hit, a hit batter, and a walk while striking out two in the final three innings.
3B Jordy Lara (RBI, .194), 2B George Soto (HR, 3 R, CS, .205), and 1B Luis Matias (R, RBI, .357) all had two hits in the game, except Soto also had two walks, which is nice. LF Estarlyn Morales (2B, 2 RBI, .125) had a double and a walk in the game.
