I talked about Walker and the other ten signings at USSM today. It’s pretty basic I guess. In worse news, The Mariners had a drug-related suspension today, their first since Mike Morse, I think. This time it was VSL RHP Jose Mendoza. As a Mariners fan, I am suspicious of most players with the surname Mendoza. I can’t help it.

Tacoma 7, Colorado Springs 5 (COL - 3)
LHP Ryan Feierabend (6.27) gave up two runs on eight hits, two walks, and a K in six innings of work. At least he pitched six innings? RHP Steve Palazzolo (5.11, BS, W) let three more plate after four hits and two Ks in the next inning, then RHP Mike Koplove (4.13, S) got through the final two innings to get the save.
1B Brad Nelson (2 2B, 2 R, 3 RBI, .288) had easily the best performance in the game with three hits and a walk. RF Mike Wilson (R, CS, .283) reached three times with two singles and a walk, and DH Tommy Everidge (2B, RBI, .236), and 3B Matt Mangini (2 R, .306) both reached safely twice with a hit and a walk. Josh Bard started rehabbing today. That's exciting too.

Chattanooga 1 (LA - 5) West Tenn 5
Woooo! RHP Michael Pineda (2.22, W) won his eighth, letting an unearned run score on five hits, a walk, and five Ks in six and two-thirds innings. LHP Edward Paredes (2.67) allowed two hits and a walk while striking out a pair in the final two and a third innings.
DH Nate Tenbrink (HR, 2 RBI, .267) hit the first pitch he saw out of the park in the first inning and drew a walk later in the game. It was the only extra-base hit in the game, but RF Carlos Peguero (2 R, SB, .303) and C Jose Yepez (R, RBI, .358) also had a hit and a walk apiece, and LF Kuo-hui Lo (.245) had a couple of singles.

Lancaster 13, High Desert 3
This was a completion of a game much earlier in the year that was rather painful. RHP Andrew Carraway (6.17, L) gave up four runs (three earned) on three hits and two walks in an inning and two-thirds before the game was suspended. RHP Kenn Kasparek (4.57) resumed today and let five runs score on nine hits and a hit batter, and those nine hits somehow included four home runs. He only struck out one in four and a third innings. RHP Marwin Vega (7.50) let four more runs score on five hits (HR) and two Ks and he’s been rather awful.
1B Rich Poythress (HR, .275) and RF Johermyn Chavez (HR, 2 RBI, .295) both had home runs retroactively added to their April totals and 2B Kyle Seager (.292) added two hits. This was all just weird. Moving on…

Lancaster 5 (HOU - 23), High Desert 1 (seven innings)
RHP Maikel Cleto (6.18, E, L) gave up three runs through four and a third innings after seven hits, three wild pitches, and seven Ks. Three wild pitches and no walks. RHP Chris Kirkland (10.80), recently exchanged with Moorer, let two more score after five hits and a wild pitch against two Ks. RHP Wes Littleton (0.00) allowed a hit and struck out one in the seven. I don’t know why he’s there, maybe to be closer to his family?
LF Eddy Martinez-Esteve (.304) had two singles in the game and C Hassiel Jimenez (2B, R, .400) had a double. That accounted for 75% of the total offense for the Mavs, unless you want to count Seager getting hit.

Because there was a lot of water coming down on the field, and because Snappers refers to snapping turtles I think and not Red Snapper, the game in Beloit was postponed until tomorrow.

Everett 11, Salem-Keizer 3 (SF)
I think that the Aquasox just exceeded my wildest expectations. RHP Yoervis Medina (1.50) allowed a run on a solo shot, and that was the only hit he allowed through six innings. He also walked one and struck out nine. Amazing. RHP Austin Hudson (6.00, S) let two score on four hits and three Ks in the final three innings.
3B Kevin Mailloux (2B, R, 2 RBI, .667) powered the offense by going 2-for-3 with two walks from the third spot in the order. 2B Terry Serrano (2B, 3 R, RBI, 2 SB, E, .600) had three hits batting second and CF Dwight Britton (2B, 2 R, .400) had two from the leadoff spot. LF Kevin Rivers (HR, 3 RBI, .200) was the first Everett player to hit a home run this season, getting his in the second inning, 1B Evan Sharpley (2B, R, 2 RBI, .200) doubled, and RF Jose Rivero (R, .250) had a single and a walk. One other note is that Steve Baron was demoted to the Northwest League, and I guess that does kind of make the team more interesting.

VSL Phillies 5, Aguirre Mariners 6
RHP Vicente Campos (2.22) gave up five runs (four earned) through five and a third innings after six hits, a wild pitch, and three walks against two Ks. I wish he could string two good starts together. RHP Reynaldo Sabala (3.12, W) scored two of those after a couple wild pitches, three walks, and three Ks while pitching the rest of the way.
SS-3B Felipe Burin (HR, 2 R, 3 RBI, .326) had three hits and a walk from the leadoff spot, and his second home run! That’s fantastic. C Ivan Ramirez (RBI, .350) also reached four times with two hits and two walks. 2B Yidid Batista (.226) had three singles, which is all right I guess, and LF Jesus Ugueto (2B, R, .205), 1B Jose Kalbakgi (2B, R, E, .115), and CF Rashynol Michel (R, RBI, .357) all reached twice, Ugueto with a hit and a walk and the other two with a couple of hits.

Yamasa Mariners 4, DSL Cardinals 5
Wrong Perez yesterday. That was Brandol. This was LHP Henry Perez (0.82), who allowed three hits, a wild pitch, and a walk while striking out ten in seven innings and that the M’s didn’t win is a travesty. RHP Domingo Brazobon (9.82) let three runs score on three hits and two walks in the next two-thirds of an inning, and RHP Augusto Marte (1.64, BS, L) scored one of those and two of his own after four hits and a walk against a K in two-thirds of an inning. Bad. Bad. Bad.
1B Westlonder Marcelino (R, 2 RBI, .286) had two singles, 3B Jordy Lara (2B, RBI, .229) doubled, and CF Randy Perez (R, SB, .226), DH Rudy van Heydoorn (.400), and C Ivan Brea (R, .171) all had a hit and a walk.
