If you're crazy enough to pay attention to it, look out, the VSL starts up Monday.

Tacoma 0, Memphis 1 (STL 0)
LHP Luke French (1.64, L) did a Cliff Lee impersonation in this one, with about half the Ks and a run allowed on three hits (HR) through a complete eight innings. Bummer.
DH Tommy Everidge (2 2B, .231) was 3-for-4 in the game. The rest of the lineup was 1-for-27 with a walk. Boy does this seem familiar!

West Tenn 1, Mississippi 0 (ATL - 1)
RHP Steven Hensley (1.03, W) risked succumbing to a similar fate, throwing eight innings and giving up three hits while striking out five. RHP Luis Munoz (3.75) ended up with the save after a K in the ninth.
The D-Jaxx were able to get things together after the departure of Mike Minor, who held them to two hits and a walk against eleven Ks through the first eight innings. So, in the ninth, with one out, Peguero reached on an error, Quiroz singled to scoot him over, and Liddi laid down the suicide squeeze to score Peguero. Gotta love it. The only notable though was RF Joe Dunigan (2B, .198) for his double. Jack Wilson was not in the lineup.

Stockton 5 (OAK - 6), High Desert 11
RHP Jake Wild (3.55, W) ran his record to 4-0, throwing seven and two-thirds innings and giving up four runs on seven hits (HR), a couple of walks, and two Ks. Why he struck out only two, I don’t know exactly. RHP Stephen Penney (3.12) let two of those runs score and gave up a solo shot himself along with three other hits, a walk, and a K in the final inning and a third.
Offense!… had another night where nearly everyone will get mentioned, but we’ll have to omit one. 1B Scott Savastano (HR, 2 R, 5 RBI, .318) had a good night, going 4-for-5 with his second home run of the season. Savastano has played more DH than first this season, so I end up a bit less excited when I see that only 25% of his hits have gone for extras. 2B Edilio Colina (R, .326) and CF Denny Almonte (2 2B, R, .292) both had three hits in the game, and 3B Nate Tenbrink (3 R, SB, .383) and DH Rich Poythress (2B, R, 2 RBI, .271) both were on three times, Tenbrink with a hit and two walks (one of them intentional), Poythress with two hits and a walk. RF Johermyn Chavez (HR ,.273) clubbed out his fifth home run and LF Jake Shaffer (R, .292) and SS Juan Diaz (R, .290) both had two hits.

Cedar Rapids 3 (ANA + 3), Clinton 4 (ten innings)
LHP Anthony Vasquez (1.29, PO) finally gave up some runs, three of them on six hits (HR), two walks, and eight Ks in six innings. It was the first time all season he’d given up more than two. Still, it wasn’t enough for the Kernels. LHP Jose Jimenez (1.80) had two hits and a K in the next two innings and RHP Chris Kirkland (0.39, W) had an uneventful final two innings as the game went to extras.
Again, 2B Nick Franklin (2B, 2 HR, 3 RBI, .318) busted out a two home run game, leading off with one and hitting another to tie it in the eighth. His double also drove in C Steven Baron (R, RBI, 2-4, .184) to give the Lumberkings the win. That tenth opened with a Carroll bunt ground out, followed by a walk by Sams, though he quickly ran himself out on the Baron single. Noriega singled again to get Baron up to second and then Franklin drove him home.
