Tacoma 9, Memphis 13 (STL + 1)
Sigh. RHP Steven Shell (2.00) gave up three runs on five hits, four walks, and six Ks in six innings. That didn’t hurt the Rainiers much. RHP Brian Sweeney (1.72) then struck out one in the seventh, and things from there got interesting, in the bad way. RHP Yusmeiro Petit (22.50) couldn’t get an out, letting three runs score on two hits, a wild pitch, and a walk, and RHP Levale Speigner (8.64, BS, L) then let seven runs of his own score on four hits (HR), a hit batter, two walks, and a K. Speigner’s record is 1-5 right now. I don’t usually find myself saying this about relievers, but drop him. RHP Mike Koplove (6.30) struck out on of the last two he faced.
The offense, up until the ending, was surprisingly good, with DH Tommy Everidge (2B, HR, 2 R, 3 RBI, .246) getting three hits, RF Brad Nelson (2 R, .282), 1B Mike Carp (2B, 2 RBI, .200), C Eliezer Alfonzo (2 HR, 3 RBI, .268), and LF Ezequiel Carrera (R, .218) each getting two, and SS Chris Woodward (HR, .243) homering and walking. It was the third home run for both Woodward and Everidge, and the first and second for Alfonzo.

West Tenn 9, Mississippi 1 (ATL - 2)
RHP Dan Cortes (4.82) only pitched two innings before getting pulled, with a hit and a K. Precautionary, they say. RHP Jorden Merry (0.00, W) picked up his first win of the year by pitching the next two and allowing two hits and striking out a pair. RHP Mumba Rivera (8.53) got his ERA under nine with a couple of shutout innings, including one strikeout, and RHP Aaron Jensen (4.64) pitched two after that, allowing a hit and striking out one. I think a nine run lead is an appropriate time to let Rivera out. RHP Luis Munoz (3.96) gave up a home run and struck out one in the ninth.
DH Carlos Peguero (HR, 3 R, 2 RBI, .333) collected three hits in the game, including his twelfth home run. Peguero hit to all fields and apparently this is fairly common. 3B Alex Liddi (HR, 2 R, .285), who had two hits, went back-to-back with him in the first. 1B Johan Limonta (2 2B, R, 3 RBI, .321) and C Luis Oliveros (2B, R, RBI, .333) also had two hits and 2B Dustin Ackley (R, .198) had a single and a walk. There was only one batter in the D-Jaxx lineup that went hitless.

Stockton 3 (OAK - 7), High Desert 9
RHP Kenn Kasparek (3.61, W) picked up his third win, pitching six innings and giving up two runs on three hits, three walks, and four Ks. Not his best, but I’ll take it. RHP Marwin Vega (4.80) pitched the next two, with a run scoring on two hits and two walks against a K, and RHP Steven Richard (4.08) allowed one hit and then struck out the side in the ninth.
The offense got dingers out of RF Johermyn Chavez (HR, 1-4, .272) and 1B Rich Poythress (HR, 2 R, 2 RBI, 1-3, BB, .273). Beyond that there were two hits apiece from 2B Kyle Seager (R, .311), 3B Edilio Colina (R, RBI, E, .333), and CF Denny Almonte (2B, R, RBI, SB, .301), with Almonte and Colina adding walks. DH Jake Shaffer (2B, R, 2 RBI, .293) doubled and SS Juan Diaz (R, RBI, .291) had a single and a walk.

News from Clinton is that Shaver Hansen is going to join the High Desert Mavericks and the Lumberkings are pulling Hawkins Gebbers from extended. This set off a whole series of moves, and Scott Savastano was sent to West Tenn, while Guillermo Quiroz was sent to Tacoma and Luis Oliveros went back to West Tenn. This doesn’t make a lick of sense, beyond the backstop thing.

VSL Pirates 2, Aguirre Mariners 0
Yay? RHP Angel Raga (2.25) pitched four innings and gave up a run on a hit and two walks against four Ks. RHP Maikol Guaipe (0.00) had an unearned run score against him on three hits and two Ks in the final five innings.
The offense got a couple from both CF Jesus Ugueto (2B, .250) and LF Reginald Lampe (2B, .333). That was it?
