New Orleans 6 (FLA - 4), Tacoma 7
Because of the rain delay, it ended up being a bit of a bullpen day, as RHP David Pauley (3.52) only pitched two innings before they had to suspend it, throwing twenty-six pitches and allowing two runs to score on two hits and a walk. RHP Mike Koplove (6.00) pitched the next two, letting a run score on three hits, two walks, and two Ks, then RHP Yusmeiro Petit (15.43) let three score on five hits (2 HR!), a walk, and two Ks in two and two-thirds innings. LHP Garrett Olson (3.38, W), now back in the bullpen, took it the rest of the way and struck out five in two and a third innings without allowing anyone to reach.
CF Ezequiel Carrera (2B, R, 3 RBI, .238) got three hits and a walk in from the number nine spot in the order, which is promising. Also interesting was LF Brad Nelson (2B, RBI, .289) getting a hit and three walks batting third. DH Mike Carp (2 R, .203) and RF Gregory Halman (2 R, .215) both had two hits, Halman adding a walk, and 2B Jack Hannahan (R, .193) had a single and a walk.
Montgomery 3 (TB + 4), West Tenn 0
RHP Michael Pineda (2.23, L) had a pretty rough outing, not so much for the pitching as the result, as he gave up two runs through six innings on six hits, a walk, and eight Ks. That would win it in a lot of cases. LHP Robert Rohrbaugh (2.36) let a run score on three hits and three Ks in the final three frames.
3B Alex Liddi (CS, .289) had three hits in the game, the only downside being he got caught stealing and they were all singles. 2B Dustin Ackley (2B, .211) added two and 1B Johan Limonta (2B, .312) hit his twelfth double.
Inland Empire 6 (LA - 16), High Desert 7
This series has been more taxing than originally anticipated. LHP Bobby LaFromboise (4.75) gave up three runs on nine hits (HR), three walks, and six Ks in five+ innings of work. RHP Cheyne Hann (5.40) had a good outing after that, striking out a pair, but RHP Maikel Cleto (3.55, E, BS) did not, letting three score on four hits, a wild pitch, and a K in two frames of work. RHP Steven Richard (4.05, W) got the win with two hits and a K in the ninth.
LF Nate Tenbrink (3B, HR, 2 R, 4 RBI, SB, .389) was the star of the offense again, going 4-for-5 and coming up a double shy of the cycle. 3B Edilio Colina (2 R, SB, .327) had a hit and two walks, while C Trevor Coleman (HR, 2 RBI, .188) had two hits and 1B Rich Poythress (.265) had two walks. In the ninth, it was a single by Tenbrink that drove in Colina, who had previously singled and made it around to third on two different throwing errors. That's a wacky way to win one.
Just like last week, Thursday night’s game was postponed due to rain. They will face the Bees at a later date. AAAAHHH! BEES!
Aguirre Mariners 5, VSL Tigers 4
RHP Daniel Mata (6.00) made his pro debut, giving up three runs (two earned) on seven hits, a walk, and three Ks in three frames of work. Following him, RHP Ivan Julio (0.00, E, W) pitched five innings and let an unearned run score on three hits, a walk, and four Ks. RHP Ricardo Pereira (0.00, S) allowed two hits and struck out one in the ninth.
RF Alexy Palma (2 R, RBI, SB, CS, A, .417) collected three hits in the game, which is nice, but I may be a little more interested in the two hits by 1B Ivan Ramirez and SS-3B Felipe Burin (2B, HR, 2 RBI, .400), Ramirez because he out to do something to establish himself so he can move up, Burin because was a six-figure signing that hasn’t done a whole lot yet. C Ricardo Gonzalez (2B, R, PB, .333) doubled and walked.
