I did a two-part interview over at SoDo Mojo recently, where I talk about pitches, Triunfel, draft prospects, and Robles. Pitches and draft were a little difficult. I haven't studied the draft all that much because of where we're picking, but managed to throw a couple of names out there that might make sense but probably won't be picked because the odds are very low on any of it.

New Orleans 3 (FLA - 7), Tacoma 11
RHP Steve Shell (2.28, E, W) had an interesting start! That’s as non-committal as you think it is. On one hand, there were six Ks in six and a third innings, and on the other, there were the three runs on twelve hits and two walks. That’s a lot of hits. RHP Mike Koplove (5.27) had a hit and a K in the next inning and two-thirds and RHP Yusmeiro Petit (12.71) struck out a pair in the ninth.
The Rainiers didn’t care how interesting Shell's pitching was. The difference between the two offenses was that, while both had thirteen hits, the Rainiers knocked five out of the park and drew seven walks to New Orleans’ two. It’s funny because they didn’t have any other extra-base hits. So, as dingers go, cheers to the bottom half of the lineup and 1B Mike Carp (2 HR, 3 RBI, 3-5, .226), CF Gregory Halman (HR, 1-5, .215), C Eleizer Alfonzo (HR, 2 RBI, 3-5, .265), and 3B Matt Mangini (HR, 2 R, 1-3, 2 BB, .275). Other contributors included SS Jack Hannahan (R, .187) and RF Brad Nelson (R, RBI, .299), who both had a hit and two walks, DH Tommy Everidge (2 RBI, .241), who had two hits, and LF Mike Wilson (2 R, .240), who had a hit and a walk.

Montgomery 6 (TB + 4), West Tenn 1
Damned Biscuits. RHP Steve Bray (2.60, L) gave up three unearned runs on five hits, two walks, and four Ks over the course of five innings. LHP Robert Rohrbaugh (3.07) gave up three more on seven hits and two Ks over the next two and two-thirds, then RHP Aaron Jensen (4.01) had a hit and a K in the final inning and a third.
2B Jeff Dominguez (3B, RBI, CS, .188) had three hits in the game while batting ninth. SS Carlos Triunfel (2 2B, .284) and C Jose Yepez (2B, R, .293) both had two apiece. Triunfel has as many doubles as Yepez. Uh… Lance Painter, the pitching coach, got ejected after an intentional walk. I don’t get that either.

High Desert 7, Lancaster 3 (HOU - 13)
RHP Andrew Carraway (3.64, W) an okay start for the Mavs, giving up two runs on nine hits (HR), a wild pitch, and five Ks. I say “okay” more for the hit totals, which are understandable with the circumstances. RHP Blake Nation (4.00) gave up a run on two hits and a walk in the eighth, and then RHP Steven Richard (3.86) had a hit and a K in the ninth.
1B Rich Poythress (2 HR, 3 R, 4 RBI, .280) hit his ninth and tenth home runs. He sure does like hitting in Lancaster. 3B Kyle Seager (.311) had two hits and a walk, and LF Nate Tenbrink (2B, 2 R, 2 SB, .379) and RF Johermyn Chavez (2B, R, RBI, .274) both had a double and a walk.

Kane County 3 (OAK - 4), Clinton 4
They almost got us. RHP Taylor Stanton (3.43, W) pitched an impressive eight innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on five hits, a wild pitch, and five Ks. LHP Jose Jimenez (1.72) allowed a hit and struck out one in the next two-thirds, and RHP Brandon Josselyn (3.12, S) gave up a hit to score that run before recording the final strikeout.
That might have been a little close for comfort, as the Lumberkings had just finished rallying for three runs to take the lead in the bottom half of the eighth. With one out, Bantz got hit by a pitch, then after a flyout, Dotel Singled and stole second, and CF Daniel Carroll (3B, R, 2 RBI, .259) tripled to drive both home. Taking another on only required that SS Gabriel Noriega (R, RBI, 3-4, .192) line a single to right field and the Lumberkings suddenly had a 4-2 lead. Leadoff man (still) 1B Vinnie Catricala (2B, .268) had three hits in the game and DH Nick Franklin (SB, .318) had two hits and a walk. After having no walks through May 16th, he has four in his last five games.
