Oklahoma City 3 (TEX + 4), Tacoma 7
LHP Chris Seddon (4.18, W) battled through six innings, with three runs scoring on five hits, three walks, and a K. RHP Brian Sweeney (1.40) had a walk and a couple of Ks in the next inning, and then RHP Sean White (0.00) had a hit, a balk, a walk, and three strikeouts in the last two. Let’s see how long he can keep this up.
DH Tommy Everidge (2B, HR, 4 RBI, .250) had the two extra-base hits of the game, along with the only walk. The fellows with two singles included RF Brad Nelson (2 R, .308) and 3B Matt Mangini (RBI, .289). Brad Nelson would be really exciting if he were hitting for power.
The D-Jaxx game was postponed due to flash flooding in the area. Robles gets two extra days to figure out his command.
High Desert 9, Lancaster 7 (HOU - 14)
LHP Ryan Feierabend (5.27, PO, W) did indeed get the start, throwing seven innings and allowing five runs (four earned) to score on seven hits (HR) and four Ks. RHP Stephen Penney (4.43) let two runs score on two hits, a wild pitch, and a K in the eighth, and then RHP Steven Richard (3.68, S) struck out a pair in the ninth. After walking four in April, he’s only walked two in May. Progress!
Dingers tonight included DH Rich Poythress (HR, 1-4, .280), RF Johermyn Chavez (HR, 2 R, 3-4, .286), and CF Denny Almonte (HR, 2 R, 2 RBI, 3-4, .298). Poythress REALLY likes hitting in Lancaster. 2B Kyle Seager (2 R, RBI, SB, .315), 3B Edilio Colina (2B, R, RBI, .320), LF Nate Tenbrink (2 RBI, E, .379), and SS Juan Diaz (3B, R, RBI, .299) all had two hits of varying distances. I’d say Diaz is hitting like he wants to be promoted, but he has company.
Kane County 4 (OAK - 5), Clinton 8
RHP Erasmo Ramirez (2.06, W) had another fine outing, going six innings and giving up an unearned run on five hits (HR), a couple of hit batters, and five Ks in six frames of work. RHP Jorden Merry (27.00) then had some trouble in his league debut, with three runs scoring on three hits and a K in an inning+ of work, but RHP Daniel Cooper (5.40) scored one of those on two hits and a K. In the ninth, RHP Chris Kirkland (0.35) struck out one.
CF Daniel Carroll (3 R, .294) busted out a rare 4-for-4 night out of the leadoff spot, and two down, 2B Nick Franklin (2 R, 3 RBI, 2 SB, .328) had a 3-for-4 night. DH Kalian Sams (HR, 3 RBI, .185) had a home run, his eleventh, and struck out in his other two at-bats, and 3B Mario Martinez (2B, 2 RBI, .216) had a double.
Aguirre Mariners 2, VSL Pirates 6
RHP Angel Raga (4.91, L) took his second loss, giving up three runs on seven hits (2 HR!), a wild pitch, a walk, and four Ks in three and a third innings pitched. Yuck. RHP Mayckol Guaipe (3.12) let three more plate on three hits, a walk, and four Ks in three and two-thirds innings, though he was not responsible for any of Raga’s runners. RHP Jesus Pirela (0.00) had a hit, a walk, and two Ks in the final inning.
My only notables for offense are 2B-1B Michael Acevedo (2B, RBI, .273), who doubled, and SS Ramon Coronel (R, .200), who had a single and a walk.
