Up and running again, so let’s go over Sunday first… Hey, Hannahan cleared waivers. Maybe they know a thing or two about a thing or two.

Tacoma 9, Las Vegas 7 (TOR - 9)
LHP Chris Seddon (4.00, W) got through six and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs (two earned) to score on ten hits (HR) and a couple of strikeouts. It’s a good thing everyone was hitting. LHP Garrett Olson (3.66) pitched the next inning and a third and let a couple runs score on a hit (HR), a hit batter, a walk, and two Ks. In the ninth, RHP Chad Cordero (4.34, S) recorded his fifth save with a hit and a K.
The strangest thing to me about this box score is that looking at the top three in the order, I see identical lines of 1-for-4 with a double, a walk, and a run scored from SS Ramon Vazquez (2B, R, .233), 1B Mike Carp (2B, R, RBI, CS, .232), and DH Tommy Everidge (2B, R, RBI, .266). All those doubles opened the game. Also odd: three singles from 2B Jeff Dominguez (RBI, .600). LF Brad Nelson (HR, 2 R, .302) had a home run and two walks, which I hope is not unusual so much as a sign of recovery. C Guillermo Quiroz (HR, 3 RBI, .423) and CF Gregory Halman (HR, 2 RBI, .228) both had two hits including a home run, but Halman walked. 3B Matt Mangini (R, .297) had a single and a walk and RF Mike Wilson (R, SB, E, .303) walked twice. I think that’s everyone.

West Tenn 3, Carolina 2 (CIN - 4)
RHP Steve Bray (2.53, W) pitched another eight innings and gave up a couple of runs on five hits (HR) and five Ks. Par for the course, really. RHP Josh Fields (3.75, S) allowed a double and struck out a pair in the ninth.
2B Leury Bonilla (HR, .211) had a couple of hits, including a home run, his firs of the season, and that was the difference in the game. LF Carlos Peguero (R, SB, .308) and DH Dustin Ackley (R, .216) both walked twice, except Ackley had a single. He walks a lot.

High Desert 8, Lake Elsinore 3 (SD + 17)
Right, so after we drop three of four to the Nuts, we take game one from the Storm. RHP Andrew Carraway (3.40, W) gave up a run on six hits, three walks, and six Ks in six frames of work. Ordinarily, you’d expect better command, but whatever. RHP Cheyne Hann (5.40) gave up a run on a hit and two Ks in the next two innings and then RHP Steven Richard (3.70) let a run score on two hits and two walks against a K in the ninth. I am beginning to suspect that the bullpen grounds are cursed. What say you?
2B Kyle Seager (2B, R, RBI, .330) had four hits in the game, but I’m docking him half a point because he didn’t draw a walk. CF Denny Almonte (HR, 2 R, 3 RBI, .292) and SS Juan Diaz (HR, 2 R, 2 RBI, .296) both had two hits, including Dingers (DINGERS). 3B Edilio Colina (2B, R, RBI, .315) had a double leading off and DH Shaver Hansen (R, .067) walked twice.

Clinton 6, Kane County 1 (OAK - 7)
RHP John Housey (1.80, W) got through six innings in his first start and allowed three hits and three walks while striking out four. LHP Brian Moran (2.08, S) then got the three-inning save, with a run scoring on two hits, a walk, and six Ks. That was his first save all year, but not the first time he’d pitched three innings, certainly.
C Brandon Bantz (2B, RBI, .278) and CF Matt Cerione (CS, .228) both had three hits in the game. RF James Jones (HR, 2 R, 2 RBI, .208) and LF Kalian Sams (HR, 3 RBI, .192) both had home runs, the twelfth for Sams, the fourth for Jones. Jones added a walk. Leading off again, SS Nick Franklin (2B, 2 R, .314) had two hits and a walk, and further on down in the five spot, DH Tim Morris (2B, R, .316) doubled and walked.

Aguirre Mariners 5, VSL Reds 7
Perhaps this is the year in which we do not utterly destroy the league. RHP Mayckol Guaipe (6.55, PO, L) gave up five runs on six hits, a hit batter, a couple walks, and a K in two and a third innings. Not good. In the next two and a third innings, RHP Osmel Morales (0.00) let an unearned run score on two hits, a balk, a hit batter, and two Ks. RHP Jose Mendoza (3.00) gave up a home run and struck out a pair in the final inning and a third. After watching VSL teams for several years now, I am starting to suspect that the M’s will never sign anyone named Bastardo.
2B Michael Acevedo (HR, 3 RBI, SB, E, .342) had two hits in the game and CF Rashynol Michel (R, A, .333) had a single and a walk. He seems like a level-headed player.
