Memphis 7 (STL), Tacoma 11
The Rainiers are one game away from the title? LHP Mauricio Robles (8.18, W) gave up four runs on six hits (HR), a wild pitch, a hit batter, two walks, and four Ks in five innings. It took him 93 pitches to get there. RHP Ian Snell (4.15) gave up two runs on two hits, a walk, and a K in the next frame, and then RHP Levale Speigner (6.75) let a run score on four hits and a K in the next inning and a third because things were simply not exciting enough. LHP Edward Paredes (0.00) pitched an inning after that, recording two Ks along the way, before he gave way to RHP Scott Patterson (0.00) for the final two outs, one of which was a K.
This game had dingers. It’s been happening a lot lately. CF Gregory Halman (HR, 2 R, 2 RBI, 2-5, .308), RF David Winfree (HR, 2 R, 3-5, BB, .393), DH Mike Carp (2B, HR, 2-5, .214), LF Mike Wilson (HR, 4 RBI, 2-4, .364), and SS Tug Hulett (HR, 2 RBI, 2-4, .269) all had them. I wonder if things will be different when the Redbirds get home field advantage. 1B Justin Smoak (2 R, RBI, .429) also had a hit and two walks and C Eliezer Alfonzo (.238) had two singles.

Lake County 9 (CLE), Clinton 6
RHP Yoervis Medina (2.19) pitched six and a third innings and five runs (one earned) scored against him on two hits, two hit batters, two walks, and four Ks. Such are the perils of Mailloux at second when he hadn’t really played there this season. RHP Brandon Maurer (6.00) got out of that inning, recording a strikeout and a ground out. Then the bullpen fell down; went boom. RHP Matthew Bischoff (10.80, BS, L) had four runs score against him on three hits, a wild pitch, a walk, and a K. The K was the only out he had. RHP Brandon Josselyn (0.00) didn’t help things as he let two of the runs score on two hits and a K in an inning and two-thirds.
RF James Jones (HR, 3 RBI, PO, .417) had two hits leading off, including a home run, his second of the playoffs. C Blake Ochoa (2B, R, .125), CF Matt Cerione (2B, R, SB, .192), and SS Gabriel Noriega (2B, R, .200) all had doubles with Cerione drawing a walk.
