We could stand to have better luck with Cleveland-based affiliates. And Cleveland in general. That one game in 2001. 1995. We have enough for a rivalry of sorts if someone just wanted to put a narrative to it. Except it seems historically backwards. Maybe it’s revenge. LHP Ryan Feierabend (14.73, 3 PO, L) gave up seven runs (six earned) on ten hits (HR), a wild pitch, a walk, and a K in three and two-thirds innings. Incidentally, he’s an Ohio native. We’re through the looking glass now, people. Or maybe not considering the three pickoffs. Hey it could be a smokescreen. Second shooter on the bullpen mound or something. RHP Ian Snell (36.00) gave up four runs on five hits, a walk, and a K in the next inning, scoring one of Feier’s runs along the way. I thought of closing by being snarky and just saying “well we can just chalk that one up to him not being good anymore”, but RHP Andy Baldwin (6.75) scored two of those and one of his own after a hit, a wild pitch, and two walks in an inning and a third. RHP Levale Speigner (0.00) gave up two hits in the seventh and RHP Anthony Varvaro (0.00) allowed a hit in the eighth.
RF David Winfree (HR, 2 RBI, A, .750) did most of the damage for our crew, going three for four with a dinger. DINGERS. It’s my last opportunity :( CF Gregory Halman (R, .400) had two singles and 2B Dustin Ackley (R, .250) had a single and a walk and SS Tug Hulett (2B, 2 RBI, .250) doubled. I’d say “hey at least we get to see some of these guys soon in Seattle” but we were going to do that anyway and wins are a rare and strange phenomenon. And I don't necessarily want to see many more in Seattle because Number Two Pick and all.
As for me, I’m going to scale it back and go into the winter semi-hibernation right now, as I do all sorts of unimaginable real life things. Tune in later as I start rambling about various other things that interest me and also list winter league stats something like once a week.
