Oh right, there isn’t an offseason. Not exactly at least. Baseball America announced their
top 20 Arizona League prospects yesterday and two Mariners ranked, with OF Guillermo Pimentel taking the top spot and C/1B Ji-man Choi taking eighteenth. What’s more, I got a couple of questions answered
in the chat, which almost never happens. Since these are now behind that pay wall, all I can really add is that you can probably figure out on your own why Choi ended up low on the list. There are a few other players that I think are worth mentioning in the overall evaluation of the Mariners on an individual level, but I wouldn’t necessarily get up in arms about your favorite prospect not being listed. Of the top twenty from five years ago, only six have made it to the big leagues at this point. The list-making process is not without its issues.
The Appalachian League will be talked up tomorrow. Expect Morla.
